Pokemon Card Game Pokemon TCG: SV04 Paradox Rift - Booster Box
Contains 36 original Pokemon Paradox Rift packs
Each pack contains 10 original Pokemon cards
Paradox Rift and Japanese Ancient Roar and Future Flash feature Paradox Pokémon that previously only appeared in the Scarlet & Violet and Obsidian Flames expansions.
The set was first introduced on August 11, 2023, when the Canadian Pokémon Center website briefly showed off one of the Elite Trainer Boxes for the Iron Valiant set.
More information about the set was revealed during the closing ceremony of the 2023 Pokémon World Championships on August 13, 2023. This expansion introduces two new card variants: Ancient and Future, both of which are available as Pokémon and Trainer cards. Both variants of the cards have unique text icons in the upper right corner of the artwork and unique backgrounds adorning the right half of the cards: Ancient cards have layered layered backgrounds, while future cards have pixelated backgrounds. Ancient Pokemon cards tend to have direct attacks that deal a lot of damage while being difficult to knock out. Future Pokémon cards tend to have abilities and attacks with extra effects, allowing for more skillful strategies. Ancient and Future Trainer cards have effects that tend to help their respective Pokemon counterparts.
Paradox Rift also features Technical Machine cards, which were first reintroduced in the Japanese Raging Surf subset after being last seen in the Rising Rivals expansion. The Tech Machine cards from this set are categorized as Pokémon Tool cards. Paradox Rift includes cards from the Japanese expansions Ancient Roar and Future Flash, the Raging Surf subset, and the Terastal starter sets. Paradox Rift contains 13 ex-Pokémon, seven ex-Tera Pokémon, 34 illustration rare Pokémon, 15 special illustration rare Pokémon and Supporter cards, 28 ultra-rare full-art etched Pokémon ex and Supporter cards, and seven hyper-rare gold etched cards. There are no Lightning or Metal type Pokemon in Ancient Roar. Likewise, there are no Darkness-type Pokemon in Future Flash.
Paradox Rift is available in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. Ancient Roar and Future Flash were released in Japanese on October 27, 2023, followed by localized versions in Traditional Chinese on November 10, 2023.
From the name of the edition, it is clear that other popular Paradox Pokemon, which we can know from Area Zero in the region of Paldea Scarlet and Violet, will get into the game. We expect the set to include cards from September's Raging Surf and October's Ancient Roar & Future Flash. These sets have not yet been officially revealed in Japan.
What are Paradox Pokémon?
Select Pokémon in the Scarlet and Violet games have their own unique paradox form. It refers to either the future or the past. So far, we've only welcomed two such Paradox-type Pokemon into the cards.
It was a Time Paradox variant of the Pokemon Donphan - Great Tusk ex and Iron Treads ex. It is possible that other Pokemon will be added to these cards, such as Sandy Schock or Iron Moth.
